- Updated Aprilia SR 160 to get an LED headlight
- May carry a price premium over the current model
- Launch to take place soon
Aprilia India is set to update its portfolio with the launch of the updated SR 160 very soon. The upcoming iteration of the premium scooter was spotted in the showroom-ready form at what appears to be a warehouse. This new model should arrive soon to make the most of the high-demand festive season.
The upcoming Aprilia SR 160 will feature an updated front fascia that will now use an LED headlight instead of the halogen unit on the old model. The new headlight design looks sharper and more appealing than the old scooter. The details about the instrument cluster are limited at the moment but we may see a Bluetooth-enabled console on the updated SR 160.
The 160.03cc, single-cylinder engine already complied with the BS6 emission norms and thus we do not expect to see any major changes to the mechanical specifications. Linked to a CVT gearbox, the BS6-compliant motor is tuned to produce 10.84bhp of power and 11.6Nm of peak torque.
The hardware, too, should remain similar to the outgoing version. Thus, the updated Aprilia SR 160 will use telescopic forks, a single spring at the rear, a disc brake at the front, a drum unit at the back, single-channel ABS, and 14-inch alloy wheels on both ends.
The changes to the 160cc scooter should affect the final prices and the updated Aprilia SR 160 should carry a marginal premium over the outgoing model’s Rs 1.09 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi) tag.
