- Likely to be an affordable version of the existing one
- Features steel wheels, conventional key setup and more
- To be launched on 20 December
Bajaj is set to launch a new version of the Chetak electric scooter on 20 December and it has now been spotted testing before its official debut. This one is likely going to be the more affordable version of the Chetak and here is what it looks like.
Although camouflaged, the retro design on this test mule is a clear giveaway of the Chetak. As seen here, its proportions, and styling aren’t expected to see any major changes. The round LED headlight, curvy body panels, and bulbous rear profile all remain unchanged. But what could make this an affordable Chetak trim could be the features list, hardware, and output figures as well.
As seen here, the upcoming Chetak is likely to ride on steel wheels and use drum brakes at both ends. Further, it will miss out on the lockable glove box that the more expensive Chetak model hosts. Then, there is a physical ignition key slot on the right-hand side instead of the keyless system. Even the console is likely to be a monochrome LCD and not a TFT to cut costs further.
We are yet to know the battery range and motor output but you can expect about 70kmph top speed and around 100km or less of total range.
The official debut of the affordable Chetak electric scooter is just a few days away and we will be riding it soon.
