Just few days ago, Hero MotoCorp announced the plan to launch fifteen new products in a span of just six months. What we knew were these products will help the company position its lineup aggressively, what we didn’t know was these products will be loaded with features.
Hero MotoCorp has revealed quite a number of their upcoming models at the Hero Global Sales and Marketing Conference at Macau. The company unveiled the 2014 Karizma ZMR, facelifted Xtreme, iSplendor and a new scooter. Some of these models will be sold in the country starting from next month with some really nice features.
The most important feature that will put the company miles ahead of its players is the start stop system. What the system does is it automatically shuts down and restarts the internal combustion engine to reduce the amount of time the engine spends idling, thereby reducing fuel consumption and emissions. This system is currently being used on high-end cars in India and most of the cars in Europe. This feature will be first seen on the iSplendor only – a way the company wants to check if this works.
The other feature the company has introduced is the engine immobilizer that prevents the motorcycle from starting when an incorrect key is used. This feature was first introduced in Mahindra Centuro and its likely Hero will use this system starting with the Xtreme. . The Gurgaon based manufacturer has also developed Integrated Braking System (IBS). This system applies the front and the rear brake at the same time when you use either of the brake in a scooter. Honda’s scooters have the same technology in place called Combined Braking System (CBS).
We can expect Hero MotoCorp to price these upcoming models very competitively. Being in number one spot is difficult but what more difficult is, maintaining that spot for long at the current competitive market.
