- Likely to get dual-channel ABS
- Would use the same 199.6cc motor
- Unlikely to get any design changes
Hero MotoCorp has officially teased an update for its off-road motorcycle, the Xpulse 200 4V. The teaser video shows the instrument console of the Xpulse with three ride modes on its right side – road, off-road, and rally. However, the final story could be different.
Though the bikemaker has teased the so-called ‘ride-modes’, we expect the Xpulse to get updates for its ABS system. It’s likely to feature dual-channel ABS, which in turn would offer a variety of settings as per the rider’s convenience. So, the road mode ABS could keep both channels active, while the off-road would deactivate the rear ABS only, and the rally option would allow the bike to switch off both channels for better control while off-roading.
With the help of these three ABS modes, riders can easily set the ABS according to the riding terrain and make the most of the Xpulse’s capabilities. Apart from that, the bike has just enough power for beginners, so adding ride modes to alter the engine output could be overkill.
We expect Hero to retain the same design and features but maybe tweak the switch cubes to toggle through the ride mode menu. The 199.6cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled motor with the output rated at 18.8bhp and 17.35Nm is also expected to remain unaltered. It would be mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Currently, Hero offers the Xpulse 200 4V at Rs. 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). But with the new update, the asking price could be increased by a few thousand rupees.
