- Will use a four-valve engine
- Hardware changes will include upside-down front forks
- India launch on 14 June, 2023
Hero MotoCorp has released another teaser of its upcoming motorcycle, the Xtreme 160R, ahead of its India launch on 14 June, 2023. It reveals two major updates about this TVS Apache RTR 160-rivalling motorcycle. As seen in the teaser video on the company’s social media handles, this motorcycle will come equipped with upside-down front forks as against the conventional telescopic units on the current model. Meanwhile, it will retain a preload-adjustable mono-shock at the back.
Further, this teaser also confirms that the new Hero Xtreme 160R will use a four-valve setup instead of the two-valve layout on the current model. Previously, Hero MotoCorp had updated the valve setup on its Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T. The output figures did not change much post the update. We expect to see a similar change on the Xtreme 160R 4V as well. For reference, the 163cc, air-cooled motor on the current motorcycle makes 15bhp at 8,500rpm and 14Nm at 6,500rpm. The four-valve setup should further improve the top-end performance of the engine on the new Xtreme 160R.
The braking setup will be similar to the current model, and the new Xtreme 160R 4V will use petal-type disc brakes on both wheels. The safety net, similar to the current model, will most likely include a single-channel ABS.
When launched, the new Xtreme 160R 4V will rival the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the new Bajaj Pulsar NS160 in India. We expect the prices to increase marginally, and the new Xtreme 160R should arrive in the Rs. 1.25 lakh and Rs. 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom) price range. For reference, the current model has been priced from Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards.
