Royal Enfield will soon expand its 650cc product portfolio with the launch of new models. The upcoming list will include a 650cc cruiser motorcycle. While the launch details are not available yet, here we tell you everything we know about this upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle.
Design
The new Cruiser-style motorcycle from Royal Enfield will feature a rear-swept handlebar and forward-set footpegs that will deliver upright ergonomics. The motorcycle will feature a round headlight with a chrome bezel, a tear-drop fuel tank, split-style seats, twin-sided exhaust canisters, and a round taillight. Similar to the current 650cc motorcycles, the upcoming cruiser will feature twin-sided exhaust pipes. The details about the instrument cluster are scarce although we expect to see a semi-digital setup on the upcoming 650cc cruiser. Royal Enfield will most likely offer a wide range of accessories along with the motorcycle.
Engine
The details about the mechanical specifications are not available yet, but we expect the new cruiser to feature the same engine as the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650. The current Royal Enfield 650 Twins use a 648cc, air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp of power and 52Nm of peak torque. Expect the numbers to be similar on the 650cc cruiser. The motor would be linked to a six-speed gearbox.
Hardware
The spy images and videos have given a detailed look at the hardware on the motorcycle. The suspension setup, for example, will include upside-down front forks and twin-sided rear springs. The braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels. The cruiser motorcycle, as seen in the spy pictures, will have alloy wheels that will come wrapped in tubeless tyres.
Features
The motorcycle should come equipped with the Royal Enfield Tripper Navigation system. The hardware, which is already available on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and the Himalayan, connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and delivers turn-by-turn navigation. Electronic rider aids would most likely remain minimal, and the safety net should include a dual-channel ABS.
Expected Price
Considering the hardware, we expect the new 650cc cruiser to carry a premium price tag over the Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650. Thus, we expect the new, cruiser-style model to retail in the Rs 3.40-3.60 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket. While the launch details are unavailable, we expect the new Royal Enfield cruiser to arrive in 2022.
