-Test bike appears to be close to production ready
- Expected to be powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin engine
- Launch expected in 2025
Royal Enfield has been busy testing a variety of bikes in the 650cc range and the latest test mule to have been spotted is the upcoming Classic 650. The bike was seen testing alongside the Royal Enfield Scrambler 650 and we can see a few interesting bits about it.
The styling of the upcoming Classic 650 is unmistakably like that of the Classic 350. You’ve got a similarly styled headlight, albeit an LED unit, fork covers and teardrop shaped fuel tank. Even the side panels and the shape of the fenders to the tail lights look remarkably similar. That being said, expect the Classic 650 to have bigger proportions than the Classic 350.
The Classic 650 is expected to be powered by the same 648cc, parallel-twin engine that you see in the Interceptor 650, Super Meteor 650 and Shotgun 650. It should make 47bhp and 52Nm like the rest of the aforementioned bikes. However, we could see Royal Enfield tweak the engine’s state of tune or the gearing to suit the relaxed application of the Classic 650.
In terms of the chassis, we could see a modified version of the Royal Enfield’s 650cc platform frame. The test bike is equipped with a conventional telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the back. It rides on wire-spoke rims shod with what appears to be wide tyres. The task of braking, meanwhile, will be taken care of by a disc brake at either end. Dual-channel ABS will be standard.
We expect the Royal Enfield Classic 650 to be launched in 2025.
