The month of August is going to be as action-packed as the preceding month, with as many as four launches taking place. The list includes updates to two best-selling two-wheelers in the country.
Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 has been a runaway hit ever since it was launched in India. The motorcycle, however, has been on sale for a while and it getting a little long in the tooth. The company is hence going to launch an updated Classic 650 on 12 August. It is expected to feature new colours, perhaps a few design tweaks, and more features. The engine and other hardware are likely to continue to be the same and it’s not that there was anything required to be done as well.
Updated TVS Jupiter 110
The TVS Jupiter 110 continues to be one of the best sellers for the company, despite having been around for years, albeit with few updates. The scooter is popular for its simple design, spacious seating and easy rideability. The engine is refined and frugal and TVS has kitted the scooter with a lot of features. For 2024, we expect to see a significant update to the design of the scooter. We could also see TVS increase the number of features on the scooter, perhaps a TFT display may also make its way to the list.
BSA Gold Star
The BSA Gold Star is going to be launched on Independence Day. The bike brings modern-retro design to the table along with a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 45bhp and 55Nm. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox. The Gold Star’s design is one of its biggest highlights, especially with the period-correct paint and chrome bits all around.
As for hardware, the motorcycle has a cradle frame with a telescopic fork up front and twin springs at the rear. The bike rides on wire-spoke wheels. Meanwhile, braking duties are taken care of by a single disc at both ends and ABS are fitted as standard. We expect the price of the bike to be around Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 3.3 lakh.
The Triumph Daytona 660 has been a long time coming. The bike was supposed to go on sale a couple of months ago. However, delays due to a few issues have resulted in the launch being deferred to August 2024. That said, the bike has begun reaching dealerships and bookings are open.
The Daytona 660 is based on the Trident 660 platform. It has a sporty design and supersport-like riding position, but not as taxing as the Daytona 675. The bike is powered by a 660cc, inline-triple engine that makes 95bhp at 11,250rpm and 69Nm at 8,250rpm. Moreover, Triumph says a majority of the torque is available as low as 3,125 rpm.
We expect Triumph to price the Daytona 660 around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Apart from the Kawasaki Ninja 650, the new Triumph offering may not have any other rival.
