Following its recent public appearance, the upcoming Yamaha Fazer 250 was spotted on test in India again. This time, the spyshots reveal a completely unmasked glorying in all its details.
The motorcycle might be called the Fazer 25 and underpin the same chassis and powertrain as the current FZ25. The images hint that the bike is close to its production stage and shares design cues with its naked sibling. This means that semi-faired Fazer will get a diamond-type frame, LED headlamp with AHO (Automatic Headlamp On) unit and LED tail lamps. It will feature split seats and disc brakes in the front and rear. It should also get an LCD instrument cluster as well as an exhaust with a silver finish. We are also expecting the Fazer 25 to be equipped with front telescopic forks and a rear mono shock suspension with adjustable preload. From the test rider's riding position, it is clear that the handlebars will be upright and it looks to be a comfortable riding position.
The Yamaha Fazer 25 or the 2017 Fazer 250 will be powered by a 249cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 20.9bhp of power and 20Nm of torque. This mill will comply with the BSIV emission norms and come mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
This Yamaha Fazer 25 will be priced higher than the current Yamaha FZ25 in the country competing against the likes of the Honda CBR250R and KTM 200 Duke in the quarter-litre segment. After its launch, the manufacturer might also start exporting this model to the international markets. It is still not clear when the company will launch the upcoming motorcycle and whether it will name it as the Fazer 25 or the Fazer 250. Given that the current Yamaha FZ25 doesn’t get ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as standard and the company also want to price the semi-faired Fazer 250 at an aggressive price; the upcoming motorcycle might also not get ABS as standard. However, we can expect the manufacturer to start offering ABS as an option at a later stage, probably with its next update before the government makes it mandatory.
