Two sparsely camouflaged KTM 1190 Adventure test mules have been captured on camera, giving us a clear look at the company’s new design philosophy for its 2017 line-up. Featuring revised styling and technological updates to make it Euro IV compliant, the two motorcycles were captured exiting the company’s factory in Austria.
The KTM 1190 Adventure has always been one of the most capable adventure bikes, and the 2017 models are expected to take this a step further. Both the test mules featured a redesigned fairing with split headlamps integrating LED lights. The standard 1190 Adventure gets a taller windscreen and dual sport tyres. The off-road-ready R sported sturdy pannier cases (which are optional extras) along with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels to boost its capabilities. The completely undisguised 1190 Adventure R also flaunted its new livery with KTM’s traditional racing colours. The instrument cluster is expected to be upgraded with a colour TFT screen.
When it comes to the powertrain, the 1190 Adventure will retain the 1195cc V-twin engine, which in its current guise develops around 150 horsepower. We can expect to see a slight change in power figures given that the engine will be revised to conform to Euro IV regulations. The electronics package includes four riding modes, three-level traction control and cornering ABS. Electronically adjustable WP suspension is standard. We can expect the new KTM 1190 Adventure bikes to be unveiled during the 2016 INTERMOT motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany, in October.
