- New Benelli 502C spotted in China
- To be sold in China as the QJ SRV500
- Could be launched in India next year
Qianjiang, Benelli’s parent company is set to launch a new motorcycle under its latest subsidiary- QJ Motor. This motorcycle, called SRV500, has been revealed via leaked images.
The SRV500 looks like an updated version of the Benelli 502C. The cruiser-style motorcycle seems to draw inspiration from the Ducati Diavel, just like the 502C. It sports an oval, full-LED headlamp, extended fuel tank design, and a relaxed riding position. As compared to the Benelli 502C, the QJ SRV500 also gets prominent body panels on its stubby tail section.
Moreover, the SRV500 is built on a new frame and rides on a slightly bigger front wheel. The rear also makes do with a box-type swingarm rather than a tubular unit found on the Benelli 502C. The SRV500 is likely to be a more affordable option as it uses telescopic forks and a single-disc upfront unlike the Benelli’s USD forks and twin disc setup for the front.
While the engine is likely to be the same 500cc, parallel-twin as the Benelli, the power figures on the QJ SRV500 are most likely to differ from the former’s 47bhp output. According to leaked details, the SRV500 weighs 198kg, making it around 20kg lighter than the 502C. As the QJ SRV500 looks production-ready in the leaked images we can expect it to be launched globally by the end of this year. And we can expect Benelli to introduce a rebadged version of the motorcycle in India sometime in 2021.
