- Two variants spied during test runs
- Get mild styling revisions
- Feature R18-style headlight
BMW Motorrad is working on updated iterations of its R nineT motorcycles, and two test mules were recently seen through spy photographs. The images reveal two variants of the R nineT series – standard and Pure. The styling revisions aren’t comprehensive, and thus you would see a very familiar design on the updated models. There are, however, a few tweaks that distinguish the new models from their respective predecessors.
The headlight setup, for example, has been updated, and the upcoming R nineT range features an R18 style unit. The engine, too, gets a mild styling revision and the upcoming model range gets a completely black finish. Lastly, the Pure variant (alloy wheels) of the series gets an updated exhaust setup that features a twin-pod design.
Apart from the styling revisions, BMW Motorrad will also make tweaks to the boxer-twin engine to comply with the newest emission norms. The details about the Euro5 compliant motor are scarce. The old model, for reference, used a 1,170cc, air/oil-cooled, flat-twin engine that produced 108bhp at 7,750rpm and 116Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.
The launch timeline for the updated R nineT series is yet to be announced. Meanwhile, the Indian arm of the Bavarian two-wheeler brand will soon update its portfolio with the launch of the BS6-compliant G 310 series.
