- Makes 5bhp more than before
- Gets styling tweaks at the rear end
- Likely to be launched in India too
BMW has launched the updated S 1000 XR in the international market. The bike has received cosmetic as well as mechanical tweaks for 2024 and here is a list of those.
On the design front, the 2024 BMW S 1000 XR has received minor changes. The small beak at the front looks wider and is now a single unit instead of the two-piece that the predecessor gets. The side panels and the radiator covers, too, appear to be different. Overall, the S 1000 XR looks even sportier than before but continues to get the same tall stance.
It is powered by a 999cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that gets new intake channels. It dishes out 170bhp and 114Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Compared to the older model, the S 1000 XR now makes 5bhp more. The list of rider aids includes an adaptive headlight, riding modes Pro, hill start control Pro, ABS Pro, and traction control. It also gets a 6.5-inch TFT with smartphone connectivity, keyless operation, USB charging port, and an emergency call feature.
The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR rides on 45mm electronically adjustable USD front forks and a monoshock. Its braking hardware consists of a twin 320mm front and single 265mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS. These are mounted on 17-inch wheels wrapped in 120/70 front and 190/55 rear tyres.
In the US, the updated BMW S 1000 XR has been priced at USD 20,345 (approximately Rs. 16.97 lakh, sans taxes). We expect it to be launched in India, too, but the asking price could be notably high here. For reference, the 2023 model costs Rs. 22.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
