Triumph Motorcycles has started testing the facelift version of the Tiger Explorer. One test mule was recently spied testing on the roads of Barcelona along with the BMW R1200GS – its direct competitor.
This spy shot suggests that the facelifted Tiger Explorer will get minor cosmetic changes along with new wheels, brakes and forks. The British manufacturer is planning to give the updated Tiger Explorer new forks that carry radial mounted Brembo brake calipers instead of the Nissins which is present in the current model. Interestingly, the BMW R1200GS uses the same component.
As per the photographer who clicked this picture, the test rider was playing with throttle response, which makes me believe that the company might have updated the engine maps. Another interesting input given by the photographer was that they were comparing the Tiger Explorer and R1200GS on a section of road usually used only for suspension tests. They were also comparing the GS to an ordinary Tiger Explorer. BMW features the electronic suspension system and this test could mean that the Triumph might also get this equipment.
Triumph Motorcycles might unveil this motorcycle as a 2016 model at the 2015 EICMA show. Soon after its global unveil, the updated Triumph Explorer will make its way to the Indian market.
