Yamaha’s popular FZ series has been in the Indian market since 2008. Modeled after the FZ1 litre-class sports bike, the FZ-16 and the FZS are amongst the bestselling bikes that Yamaha India makes. Now, the company is all set to bring in a comprehensively updated version of the bike.
The updated FZ has been spotted on test near the Greater Noida Expressway. As seen in the spy shots, the updated bike looks very similar to the FZ concept which was shown at the recently held 2014 Auto Expo.
Yamaha has updated the bike with a redesigned exhaust, split seats, air scoops beneath the tank and an all-new tail design comprising of a sharper looking tail lamp and revised number plate holder. The bike also gets clear lens indicators and a R15-inspired rear tyre hugger. The front-end too gets a few design revisions in the form of a new visor and headlamp design.
According to the report, Yamaha is not only concentrating on cosmetic bits for the updated FZ. The brand is also said to be readying a more powerful version of the bike with around 17bhp, thanks to a rebored engine. Yamaha India is expected to launch the updated FZ during August this year. When launched, the bike will go up against the all-new Suzuki Gixxer 150.
