- 2019 Gixxer launch by July
- To get aesthetic and performance upgrades
Suzuki is gearing up to launch the upgraded version of the Gixxer. The 2019 Gixxer will hit the showrooms by July this year.
The sales of the Gixxer has witnessed a slump due to growing competition in the market. According to our sources, the 2019 model will address some issues that were faced in the past. For instance, the current model comes with a sleek styling but misses out on body panels which could have made the bike look bigger. The 2019 model, on the other hand, will get a more aggressive stance with body panels to make the bike look muscular. What’s more, the Japanese maker will also equip the bike with LED headlamps, tail and brake lights. The instrument cluster will be updated too, and will now show more ride data.
The bike will also get an upgraded mill. The displacement is likely to increase too, along with power and torque. This motor will be BS-VI compliant, but to keep the costs in check, the bike will be initially launched in a carburettor version only. Once the BS-VI emission policy kicks in, the Japanese maker will launch the fuel-injected variant.
The Gixxer SF will be launched in the same year. Interestingly, the Intruder, a cruiser that is based on the Gixxer platform is also being readied for upgrade. However, the company is still figuring out the exact timeline to launch the upgraded Intruder. The 2019 Gixxer will be priced above Rs 90,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). Currently, the ABS variant is priced at Rs 88,388 so we are expecting the ex-showroom price of the 2019 model to be around Rs 95,000.
