- Upgraded Intruder to be launched next year
- Likely to get 250cc engine
- Could debut at 2020 Auto Expo
After launching the upgraded Gixxer and the Gixxer 250 SF, the company has shifted its focus on upgrading the Intruder 150 cruiser.
The Intruder 150 was launched in India in late 2017 with all the hype. While the motorcycle did manage to gain a lot of traction in the initial months due to its big and bulky styling, the overall sales have come down drastically due to various reasons. According to our sources, the Japanese maker is in the process of upgrading the current model. In fact, the Intruder 150 is likely to get the 250cc single-cylinder engine from the Gixxer 250 SF.
The current customers weren’t happy with the overall performance of the Intruder 150. The overall styling did impress them, however, the 14bhp motor didn’t have the go, especially while climbing hills. Plus, most of these buyers complained about the lack of a wider rear tyre that could complement the bulky design. The company doesn’t plan on discontinuing the Intruder 150 post the launch of the 250cc variant. Suzuki plans to extend its life cycle by coming out with new paint schemes and special editions.
We can expect Suzuki to showcase the upgraded Intruder at the 2020 Auto Expo. The official launch is expected to take place as we get close to the festive season next year.
