- Design sketches of upcoming Bajaj scooter revealed
- Likely to be launched through Urbanite brand
- Urbanite to debut this Diwali
It is now clear that Bajaj is working on an electric scooter that will be launched soon. This development was recently confirmed by Rajiv Bajaj. What's more, it looks like the company is also working on petrol-powered scooters and could use the newly-created brand, Urbanite, to launch these.
The top Bajaj officials have been continuously denying rumours of the plans of launching a new scooter under Bajaj brand. So it looks like the company will make use of Urbanite as a launch pad for its scooters – electric as well as petrol. This way, it will have distinct identities for its three brands – Bajaj Auto for motorcycles, RE for commercial vehicles and Urbanite for scooters (including electric) and intra-mobility solutions.
We have received some design sketches from one of our sources that confirms the possible launch of a new scooter. From the design, it’s clear that the Pune-based manufacturer has taken a very elegant and stylish approach for the scooter. Some of these design elements make it look like it belongs to the Vespa range. For instance, the single-sided front suspension with anti-dive, curvy body panels and alloy wheels have all been inspired from the Italian brand. There’s still no information on the technical aspects of the scooter, but we believe the scooter will be feature-rich.
Our sources also claim that the Pune-based company is working on new concepts like foldable bike, single-wheel electric urban transport vehicle and some more mobility solutions – all for the future. Like we mentioned earlier this month, the Urbanite brand will debut this year. Initially, it will be a small setup but will progress to a bigger brand over a period of time.
