The 2017 edition of the Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally saw 54 riders battle it out in the rough terrains of Navi Mumbai. Venkatesh Shetty from Lorraine’s Racing took away the numero uno spot with his Aprilia SR 150.
Venkatesh Shetty covered the grueling 35km dirt route in 25 minutes 15 seconds. Pinkesh Thakkar who was also riding the Aprilia SR 150 from Team CEAT came second at 25 minutes 43 seconds. The third spot was taken by the defending champion Syed Asif Ali from TVS Motor Company. Asif was riding the TVS SXR150 scooter, a new scooter developed by TVS. He managed to finish the rally in 25 minutes 44 seconds.
Out of 54 riders, only 49 managed to finish the race. There were a total of 22 first timers and 18 of them completed all the three laps. The 2017 edition also saw two women riding their scooters to the finish line. Nidhi Shukla from Team CEAT finished the race in 37 minutes 13 seconds on her Honda Activa and Priya Gala took 42 minutes 19 seconds on her Suzuki Access.
