- Vespa 125cc scooters are the highest selling models

Piaggio’s Vespa 125 scooters are spearheading the growth for the Italian Group. The sales numbers of the Vespa 125cc scooters have hit the ceiling in the last few months, playing an important role in helping Piaggio achieve a 53 per cent growth.
In March 2018, Vespa sold 3,918 scooters, of which the 125cc range accounts for 72 per cent of the numbers. The 2,817 units of Vespa 125 scooters sold in the month represent a 76 per cent growth over March 2017. Sales of Vespa 125cc scooters have even dwarfed the Aprilia SR 150 numbsales, which stood at 1,936 units. Overall, Piaggio sold 6,688 scooters in March 2018, of which the Vespa 125 scooters account for 42 per cent.
Vespa’s 125cc scooter range consists of the LX 125, VXL 125 and the SXL 125. Their popularity can be attributed to the perception of a 125cc scooter having better efficiency than the bigger 150cc counterparts. And besides, there are no cosmetic differences between the 125cc and 150cc scooters. While some customers prefer going for the entry-level LX, others prefer the VXL and SXL models thanks to the digital console, tubeless tyres and the front disc brake.
