The Vespa VX 125 is the modern incarnation of the original Vespa scooters of the 1960s and 70s. Around a year after the retro scooter was launched here, the Italian manufacturer has now introduced a new special edition variant of the 125cc scooter, called Esclusivo. Reports suggest that the special edition demands a premium of Rs 4,000 over the price of the regular scooter and that it will be limited to only 1,000 units.
The Esclusivo edition is available in three paint schemes- red, white and black. It gets new decals, which set it apart from the regular version. With only 1,000 examples to be sold, each scooter will be sold with a sill plate which bears a unique number between 1 and 1,000.
Mechanically, the Esclusivo edition is identical to the regular VX 125. It is powered by a 125cc engine which produces 10bhp and 10.6Nm of torque which is delivered through a CVT automatic gearbox.
Since being launched in 1946, Vespa has stuck to a retro old-school styling for its scooters, which has now become a big part of its charm. The traditional design has attracted a cult following and the company has planned to attract customers with this appeal.
