The BS6-compliant iteration of the Vespa Notte 125 has been priced at Rs 91,492. The Notte 125 BS6 is the most affordable Vespa scooter on sale in the Indian market. But what else can you purchase in a similar price range? Here we list the alternatives that potential buyers can consider in the same price bracket.
In the similar price range, Piaggio India also offers a sporty, 125cc scooter, the Aprilia SR 125. Similar to the Notte 125, the Aprilia SR 125 also uses a 125cc, single-cylinder, three-valve motor. The engine is tuned to deliver 9.8bhp of maximum power at 7,250rpm and 9.9Nm of peak torque at 6,250rpm. Unlike the Vespa Notte 125, Aprilia scooter features modern design and better hardware such as telescopic forks and a disc brake on the front wheel.
Suzuki Burgman Street: Rs 80,988
Suzuki Motorcycle India’s premium 125cc scooter, the Burgman Street, offers more features for a considerably lower price tag. The Burgman Street features a big maxi-scooter styling, a full-LED headlight, digital instrument cluster, multiple storage spaces (under-seat and front glove box) and a front disc brake as standard. The Suzuki scooter uses a 124cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 8.6bhp of maximum power at 6,750rpm and 10Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm.
Bajaj Auto offers its retro-style electric scooter, the Chetak for an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 1,00,000. The scooter, however, is only available in Pune and Bengaluru. The retro-styling is complemented by premium features such as full-LED lighting and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster. Bajaj Auto promises a top speed of 70kmph and a range of 85-95km per charge.
Buyers can also consider Yamaha’s premium 150cc motorcycle, the FZ, for almost Rs 8,200 premium over the Vespa Notte 125. The feature list on the Yamaha FZ includes LED headlight, digital instrument cluster and disc brakes on both wheels with single-channel ABS as standard. The motorcycle uses a 149cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 12.2bhp of maximum power at 7,250rpm and 13.6Nm at 5,500rpm.
TVS Motor Company’s entry-level Apache series motorcycle retails at Rs 95,000, which is about Rs Rs 3,500 more expensive than the Vespa Notte 125. The naked roadster from the Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer uses a 159.7cc, single-cylinder engine that produces a healthy 15.1bhp of maximum power at 8,400rpm and 13.9Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The feature list comprises of a semi-digital instrument cluster, LED pilot lamps, an LED taillight, disc brakes on both wheels and single-channel ABS.
