Piaggio India has revealed the prices of the Vespa VXL 149 BS6, and the updated scooter should arrive in the showrooms soon. While we await an official launch announcement, here we list everything that you can expect to see on the upcoming Vespa VXL 149 BS6.
Engine
The biggest change on the latest iteration of the retro-scooter is the updated motor that now features a displacement of 149cc. The 149cc, single-cylinder motor with Variable Spark Timing Management and three catalytic convertors is tuned to produce 10.2bhp of power at 7,600rpm and 10.6Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. The engine is linked to a CVT gearbox.
Why the lower displacement? Two-wheelers with 149cc engines benefit from a relatively lower insurance rate than those with a displacement of 150cc or above. Thus, Piaggio will be able to offer the 149cc scooters at a relatively affordable price tag.
Design
The styling cues will be carried forward from the BS4 version, and the VXL 149 will continue to feature a round headlight and rear-view mirrors. Chrome highlights across various parts enhance the retro looks of the VXL 149. The scooter will be offered in five colour options – yellow, white, red, matt black and Azzurro Provenza.
Cycle Parts
The BS6 model retains the cycle parts from its predecessor, the VXL 150. Thus, the VXL 149 continues to use a monocoque chassis. The scooter rides on 11-inch front/10-inch rear alloy wheels. The suspension department comprises of single side-arm at the front and dual-effect hydraulic shock absorber at the back. Anchoring power comes from a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the back while the safety net includes a single-channel ABS.
Price
Piaggio India has updated its website with the prices of the BS6 vehicles. The VXL 149, as listed on the website, will be sold at Rs 1,22,664 (ex-showroom Delhi).
