Two cruiser motorcycles have been spied testing somewhere near Faridabad by a Team-Bhp member. Both the motorcycles are un-camouflaged and were seen sporting temporary Haryana registration number plate.
We think the duo are both upcoming low cost Harley-Davidson models being designed specifically for the Indian market. The design styling of the test vehicles doesn’t go perfectly well with the traditional Harley-Davidson design, but there is a possibility of the company giving it a simple and different design to this new motorcycle which will be mainly targeting to emerging markets like India. Also, the Harley-Davidson CKD unit is based in Bawal which is in Haryana.
The spied motorcycle features a saree guard and amber reflectors which are identical to the Super Glide Custom. Testing a motorcycle with a saree guards leads us to believe that it’s a production ready motorcycle.
There have been rumours of Harley Davidson launching a 500cc motorcycle for emerging markets like India. But the engine in the spied picture doesn’t look close to a 500cc engine but more of an 800cc engine. The company might be planning to launch this motorcycle below the SuperLow and price it way below the SuperLow which retails for Rs 5.71 lakh in India.
The American manufacturer is betting big on India and other emerging markets. So developing a low cost cruiser motorcycle makes sense for these markets as they will offer great value for money for the consumers which will directly help them gain more sales.
