The Italian manufacturer launched its motocross iteration of the iconic Scrambler with a price tag of Rs 9.32 lakhs (ex-showroom, India). The Desert Sled, as its name suggests, is made for off-road purposes and the Indian market does not have anything similar to this bike. However, it does offer a range of bikes across different segments at a similar price range. We look at what else you can buy for a similar budget.
From the stables of Ducati itself, comes the Monster 821 Dark priced at Rs 9.72 lakhs (ex-showroom). The streetfighter uses an 821cc L-twin motor which churns out 110.40bhp at 9250 rpm and 89.40Nm at 7750 rpm. The Indian market offers a few more streetfighters in the form of the Triumph Street Triple 765 and Benelli TNT 899. The Street Triple 765 offers both power and torque with its in-line three-cylinder engine. The 765cc engine produces 111bhp of power at 11,250 rpm and 73Nm of torque at 10,421 rpm. The bike is priced at Rs 8.84 lakhs (ex-showroom). The Benelli TNT 899 on the other hand is a decade old design, but it still looks ahead of its time. It uses a 898cc in-line-three cylinder engine that puts out 119.37bhp at 10,000 rpm and 85.60Nm at 8,000 rpm. The TNT 899 is priced at Rs 9.61 lakhs (ex-showroom).
For people who prefer modern-classic styling, there is the Triumph Bonneville T120. Although the bike’s styling is classic, it features modern electronics like ABS, traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, and a slip-assist clutch. It uses a 1200cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 79bhp and 105Nm of torque. The Bonneville T120 is priced at Rs 9.32 lakhs (ex-showroom). Another neo-retro designed motorcycle is the Triumph Bonneville Bobber. The bike is reminiscent of the single-seater motorcycle days. The Bobber uses a 1200cc twin cylinder engine that produces 76Nm of power and 106Nm of torque. It is priced at Rs 9.62 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Ducati Desert Sled is an evolution of the Scrambler Urban Enduro. With features like a motocross-style handlebar, high mudguards, headlight mesh guard and an engine skid plate, the bike has off-road capability. Although priced a tad expensive at Rs 9.32 lakhs, the Desert Sled will be a favourite among motorcycling enthusiasts.
