Unveiled at the EICMA 2015 in Milan, the Ducati 959 Panigale is an upgraded version of the 899 Panigale so that it could retain power output while meeting stringent new Euro 4 emission standards.
We go ahead and list out how the new Ducati 959 Panigale is different from the 899 Panigale. Apart from the obvious bump in cubic capacity owing to the longer piston stroke (57.2mm to 60.8mm), there’s an increase in power from 148bhp at 10,750rpm to 157bhp at a slightly lower 10,500rpm. The torque has also benefitted and can be seen in the increase from 99Nm to 107.4Nm, both registered at 9,000rpm.
Other upgrades that have found their way to the 959 Panigale are the inclusion of a slipper clutch and a redesigned front fairing which now holds shorter stalked mirrors. The attractive underslung exhausts that were on the 899 have been replaced by new twin side-mounted shotgun pipes and help the engine attain Euro 4 compliance. The 959 now weighs the scales at 200kg, up from 193kg.
Sources at Ducati India revealed that there has been no word yet on whether the Ducati 959 will find its way to our market.
