Yamaha has been going quite bold with its new products in India. Besides launching the majorly updated YZF R15 V4, the company has also entered the premium scooter segment with the new Aerox 155. This is a big step by the Japanese bike maker in more ways than one. While we have already told you about its highlights, let’s take a look at its pictures here.
The Aerox 155 looks like nothing we have even seen before in India. Although it’s essentially a sporty maxi scooter, the presence of sleek body panels with an underbone frame make for a pit scooter-like stance.
The wide and muscular front apron gets a sharp dual pod LED headlamp with thin LED position lights while the petite tail lamp is also LED. The turn indicators are conventional though.
It comes equipped with a single-piece, stepped seat which looks spacious for the rider but a bit cramped for the pillion in pictures. What’s commendable though is a generous 24.5 litre under storage space which should accommodate one full-face helmet.
Other practical features include a multi-function key switch accompanied by a fuel lid and a seat opener key. Moreover, the fuel filler cap is also externally accessible for added convenience.
Another highlight of the Aerox is its 155cc, single-cylinder engine with variable valve actuation technology which is based on the R15’s motor. It churns out 14.75bhp of power and 13.9Nm of peak torque.
Similar to the Aprilia SR 160, the Aerox too rides on large 14-inch wheels which should result in exceptional handling and stability. Also, there are twin springs at the rear, unlike a monoshock present in other scooters in India.
Yamaha has introduced the new Aerox 155 in three colour options including Racing Blue, Grey Vermillion, and the Monster Energy MotoGP Edition.
