The Aerox 155 turned out to be quite a surprise from Yamaha, considering it chose to offer fuel-efficiency-focused two-wheelers in India, in the past. And we recently had a chance to test the scooter extensively. While you can read the entire review or watch the video on our YouTube channel, here we bring to you detailed images from our review.
The Yamaha Aerox 155 has a distinctive design especially with the underbone chassis it comes with. Even still, the Aerox 155 gets sharp lines and creases all around its bodywork that make it look fast even while standing still.
It gets an aggressive-looking full-LED headlamp, while the tail lamp is simple. Although, the rear section has a tall stance with the chunky 140 section tyre in full view. However, we wished the build quality could have been better. There were quite a few panel gaps here and there even though the quality of the components are top-notch.
Now, thanks to the ‘spine’ as it is called, getting on the scooter feels unnatural but wouldn’t take time getting used to. Yes, there is no space to keep grocery bags on the floorboard, but the scooter makes up for it by offering massive underseat storage.
At 24.5-litres, it is one of the biggest on offer and can accommodate a full-face helmet and more. Adding to that, the Aerox also gets a front storage compartment that is good enough to keep your phone or wallet.
However, the strong point of the Aerox 155 is the 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out around 15bhp. While it is much lesser than what the R15 has to offer, this figure makes it the most powerful scooter in the country.
It is quick once it crosses 5000rpm and the VVA kicks in, getting to a top-speed of around 120kmph rather easily. Moreover, the motor is refined all through; even at its redline with little vibes on the handlebar.
The Aerox 155 is also nimble, with the tyres offering good enough grip to tip the scooter in with confidence. While the suspension has been setup to compliment such riding, it feels stiff over ill-paved sections of road, through small potholes and bridge joints.
In terms of features, the Yamaha Aerox 155 gets a full-LED headlamp and tail lamp, VVA tech, ABS, idle-start-stop as well as side-stand cut off function. It also comes with a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster as standard.
