Yamaha recently launched the new S variant of its popular maxi sport scooter, the Aerox 155. There are certain aspects which differentiate it from the standard model and we put an emphasis on the same here.
Keyless ignition
The ‘S’ stands for Smart Key which is essentially a keyless ignition system with a fob. To start the scooter, the rider just needs to be in close proximity to the scooter with the key, rotate the control knob on the scooter to the ignition position, and push the start button, thereby negating the need for a physical key.
Answer-back function
The new Smart Key allows riders to locate the scooter from a distance by activating flashing blinkers and making a buzzer sound on pressing a key on the fob. This system is a norm in cars these days which allows the owner to locate their vehicle in a crowded space.
Immobilizer
In order to enhance security and ensure protection from potential theft, the S variant of the Aerox 155 gets immobilized when the key goes out of range. This reduces the risk of unauthorised access to the scooter thereby elevating the peace of mind of the owner.
Increased price
The S variant of the Aerox 155 is available only in two colours – Racing Blue and Silver. With a price tag of Rs. 1,50,600 (ex-showroom), it is Rs. 1,500 and Rs. 3,000 more expensive than the standard and MotoGP trims, respectively.
