A very interesting two-wheeler has landed on Indian shores. The Yamaha Aerox 155 scooter was recently spied at some Yamaha service centre in India.
The reason this is an interesting scooter is because of its mechanicals and cycle parts. To start with, the Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected motor that produces around 14bhp and 13.8Nm of peak torque. It also sports Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), something that’s seen on the third generation YZF-R15. This scooter rides on 14-inch wheels that is fitted with wider tyres.
The Aerox 155 is primarily sold in markets like Indonesia and Thailand where there’s a need of performance scooters. The overall styling resembles Yamaha’s naked motorcycle line-up, the MT range. It is quite feature loaded too. The Aerox 155 gets LED headlamp and tail light, 5.8-inch display, smart key system, mobile charging port and a whopping 25-litre under seat storage.
We’re expecting Yamaha to showcase this premium scooter at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. It’s unlikely to be launched in India any time soon, but the company will definitely gauge public’s reaction to this scooter. In fact, we think the Japanese manufacturer will place the Aerox 155 at their Boutique store in Chennai as a brand building exercise.
