- Clearer image of the Yamaha Cygnus-X 125 surfaces on the internet
- Likely to incorporate a car dash cam-like drive recorder
- Unlikely to be launched in India anytime soon
Yamaha has been actively testing the next-generation model of its 125cc sport scooter, the Cygnus-X 125. The previous spy shots have either revealed its rear section or the camouflaged front end in an unclear image. Interestingly, a clearer picture of the front section of its test mule with much lesser camouflage has recently surfaced on the internet.
The next-gen Cygnus-X 125 boasts of a much sportier styling as compared to its existing model. The beefy front apron houses a pair of edgy-looking LED headlamps which are flanked by triangular turn indicators. There’s a small opening between the two headlamps which looks like a vent for air intake. However, the most interesting element is a device mounted at the centre of its handlebar cowl which is believed to be a drive recorder. It functions like a car dash cam.
While the existing model of the Cygnus is powered by a 124cc, air-cooled engine, the upcoming model is rumoured to employ a liquid-cooled motor, borrowed from the Yamaha NMax 125 maxi-scooter. It produces 11.8bhp at 7,500rpm and 12Nm of torque at 7,250rpm.
The repeatedly emerging spy shots suggest that the Cygnus-X 125 is inching closer to production and an official launch is in the offing. However, Yamaha will launch the scooter only in the South East Asian markets and its India entry is uncertain at the moment. Yamaha’s 125cc scooter line-up in India includes the Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125.
