The 125cc scooter segment in the country is witnessing great demand as it not only offers good performance but is also available at a competitive price point. Adding to this list, Yamaha Motor and Hero Motocorp have launched the updated versions of their respective 125cc scooters, the Fascino 125 and the Maestro Edge 125. Well, which one among these two should you pick for yourself? To make it simple, we bring you a detailed comparison between the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid and the Hero Maestro Edge 125.
Design
Starting with the Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid, the scooter gets a modern-retro design. The scooter gets chrome/gloss black inserts around the headlamp, mirrors and all across the body. It further comes with a step-up seat, exhaust cover, Fascino badge on its sides and a chunky rear grab handle.
The Fascino 125 Fi hybrid is available in two variants: Drum and Disc. The drum variant here is offered in a total of seven colour options like Red, Yellow, Blue, Matte Blue, Metallic Blue, Black and Suave Copper. Meanwhile, the disc variant gets two more colours like Matte Black and Red with black inserts.
Moving to its competitor, Hero Maestro Edge 125 sports a sharp and robust design. It gets graphics on its sides, chunky rear grab handle, an external fuel filler lid and a chrome element at the front. The scooter is offered in three variants: Connected, Drum and Disc. The Connected variant is offered in two new paint schemes: Prismatic Yellow and Prismatic Purple. On the other hand, the Disc variant is available in six colour options: Prismatic Yellow, Prismatic Purple, Candy Blazing Red, Panther Black, Pearl Silver White, and Matte Techno Blue, while the Drum variant only gets four and misses out on Prismatic Yellow and Prismatic Purple.
Features
Both scooters come with a few unique features like the Fascino 125 hybrid is offered with a silent start, idle start-stop and maintenance-free battery, while the Maestro Edge 125 gets connected technology that assists the rider with vehicle start alert, topple alert, trip analysis, driving score, speed alert, live tracking, tow away alert, geo-fence alert and the hero locate.
Both scooters also get a few similar features like an LED headlamp, daytime running LED, an LED taillight, a fully digital instrument cluster and side stand engine cut off.
Engine
The Fascino 125 Fi hybrid is powered by a 125cc air-cooled engine. The Fascino 125 also gets a smart motor-generator (SMG) that charges the battery and along with the engine produces 8bhp of power and 10.3Nm of torque.
Meanwhile, the Maestro Edge 125 makes 9bhp of power and 10.4Nm of twist from its 124.6cc, air-cooled motor.
Hardware
Both scooters use the same suspension and braking setup. The ride is taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and a unit swingarm suspension at the rear. Meanwhile, for braking, they employ a 190mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear for the Disc variants, while they use a 130mm drum on both ends for the Drum variants.
The Fascino 125 mounts a 12-inch wheel at the front, while it uses a 10-inch wheel at the rear. These wheels are wrapped in tyres having 90mm width at the front and 110mm width at the rear. On the other hand, the Maestro Edge 125 rides on 18-inch wheels that are wrapped in tyres having 80mm width at the front and 100mm width at the rear.
