- Yamaha Fascino 125 is the fifth highest-selling scooter in February
- Replaces the TVS Ntorq 125 in the ranking chart
- Both scooters have recorded positive growth over January sales
The February two-wheeler sales chart showed some interesting transition as the new Yamaha Fascino 125 outsold the highly-popular TVS Ntorq 125 in India. The Fascino was the fifth highest-selling scooter last month with sales of 25,709 units while TVS sold 22,804 units of the Ntorq. Their positions have interchanged as compared to that in January when the latter stood fifth with 20,644 units while the former sold 11,647 units.
Although both the scooters have showed positive month-on-month sales growth individually, the progress of the Fascino 125 has been drastic. Yamaha had launched it in December 2019 as the successor to its 110cc version, which also marked the Japanese brand’s entry in the flourishing 125cc scooter segment in India. In the following days, the company also launched the sportier and funkier Ray ZR 125 and Street Rally 125. However, the sales chart clearly shows that the classy, family-oriented design and character of the Fascino 125 has been working better for Yamaha.
As for the TVS Ntorq 125, it is a youth-oriented performance scooter with best-in-class features. Ever since it was launched in February 2018, it has continued to be one of the highest-selling 125cc scooters. The aspects which have worked in its favour are the sporty styling, sharp handling dynamics and modern features such as a comprehensive fully-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.
Besides the Yamaha Fascino 125, other models in the list of top five highest-selling scooters in February include the Honda Dio at fourth position with sales of 26,494 units. The TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access 125 acquire the third and second spots with 31,440 and 50,103 units, respectively. Meanwhile, the Honda Activa models (including 6G and 125 both) continue to acquire the throne with collective sales of 2,22,961 units.
