- Registers 12 YZF-R brands
- Might have aggressive launch plans
Yamaha has decided to file trademark for not just one or two, but a total of 12 YZF-R names. These new trademark has been filed in Japan.
According to a report, the Japanese brand has filed trademark for YZF-R1, YZF-R2, YZF-R3, YZF-R4, YZF-R5, YZF-R6, YZF-R7, YZF-R8, YZF-R9, YZF-R15, YZF-R20 and YZF-R25. While some of the names are already being used in motorcyles for Asian and some European markets, there were a few new ones like the YZF-R4 and the YZF-20. This makes us believe that the company is planning to go quite aggressive with its sportbikes range in the near future.
There’s also a chance that Yamaha has just registered these names and don’t plan to use it in future. But it is highly unlikely to go on such a registration spree without any plans. So we are quite excited to see what’s in store.
