- Yamaha FZ X spied in fully finished form
- Three colours of the bike were photographed
- India launch could take place before this festive season
Yamaha’s upcoming modern-classic offering, the FZ X, has been creating a lot of buzz lately. The specifications of the motorcycle were recently leaked online which was followed by the revelation of our exclusive spy shot. Now, it seems that the Indian launch of the Yamaha FZ X isn’t too far as it was recently spotted in fully finished, production-ready form.
Yamaha was reportedly shooting the launch TV commercial of the FZ X near Atal Tunnel in Himachal Pradesh. Besides showing the bike in all its glory, the spy images also reveal three colour options of the FZ X including orange, blue and black. However, it is highly probable that Yamaha will introduce more colour options at its launch.
The FZ X looks very similar to the internationally-sold Yamaha XSR 155 which is already popular amongst Indian riders. The former gets a round LED headlamp, aluminum-finished brackets, a raised single-piece handlebar, a small radiator guard and a boxy fuel tank. A zoomed-in image of the bike also clearly shows the silver ‘FZ-X’ badge on the fuel tank.
Despite carrying a new styling, a majority of the FZ X‘s hardware such as suspension and wheels have apparently been borrowed from the existing FZ FI model. While the chassis might also be retained from the street bike, the rear portion is certainly different to accommodate the new seat. Similarly, the engine could also be the same 149cc, air-cooled unit that does duty in the FZ FI and FZ S FI. In the present form, this motor produces 12.2bhp and 13.6Nm.
Now that the motorcycle is ready for production, it won’t be too long before Yamaha officially launches the motorcycle. An announcement just before the festive season feels reasonable. The FZ X will definitely be priced higher than the FZ FI that can be bought at a starting price of Rs 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom).
