Yamaha shocked the Indian motorcycle enthusiasts with the launch price of Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for their quarter-litre naked motorcycle – the FZ25. This motorcycle is just a couple of hundred rupees more than the YZF-R15 but loses out on liquid cooling and few other things. Yamaha claims that the new FZ25 is focussed more towards the young buyers and that’s why we see a lot of aggressive design language on the motorcycle.
The FZ25 gets an all-LED headlamp which is a first in the segment. This setup does help the bike improve its aggressive stance.
It gets a LCD instrument cluster that shows a lot of information – speed, odometer, tripmeters, average and instant fuel consumption and clock.
The bike is built around a diamond-type frame that has helped it maintain a kerb weight of 148kg, making it one of the lightest in the segment.
This bike is powered by a 249cc single cylinder fuel-injected engine that produces 20.6bhp and peak torque of 20Nm. This motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
The braking department on this Japanese bike is taken care of by a 282mm disc in the front and 220mm disc at rear.
The Yamaha FZ25 is available in three colours – knight black, ballistic blue and warrior white.
