Yamaha has launched their first quarter-litre naked motorcycle for the Indian market – the FZ25. This bike has been priced at Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The FZ25 sits between the YZF-R15 V 2.0 and the YZF-R3 and competes with the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the KTM Duke 200 in its segment. But in terms of pricing, the FZ25 sees the Bajaj Pulsar RS200 as its rival too. This bike is powered by a 249cc single cylinder fuel-injected engine that produces 20.6bhp and peak torque of 20Nm. This motor is mated to a five-speed gearbox.
With the new FZ25, Yamaha is targeting young males in the early 20s and the 30s. That’s the reason, the overall design language of the bike is on the aggressive side. Just like its younger sibling – the FZ-S V2.0, the FZ25 gets sharp design cues which genuinely looks good. Yamaha has equipped the FZ25 with LED lights at the front and rear.
The bike gets full LCD instrument cluster that shows digital speedometer, tachometer, fuel indicator and odometer. There are two trip meters along with fuel reserve trip meter, instant and average fuel economy. The braking department on this Japanese bike is taken care of by a 282mm disc in the front and 220mm disc at rear. Unfortunately, there’s no anti-lock braking system (ABS). Yamaha isn’t even providing that as an option.
The Yamaha FZ25 is available in three colours – knight black, ballistic blue and warrior white. The bike can be booked at all Yamaha showrooms from today.
