The 2014 version of the FZ-S was spotted testing again in North India. This test bike is the updated version of the current FZ. The facelifted Yamaha FZ-S, the same concept of this bike, was displayed at the Auto Expo.
This time we have clear pictures that show the changes to the bike. The most evident change that can be seen in these pictures is the change in the speedometer console. This is totally different from the design on the current FZ despite being digital one. The company has made minor changes to the rear section of the bike. The overall structure of the panels is same as the present FZ, however, the registration plate holder is different and the tail lamp is new.
This is similar to the prototype that was caught on test earlier. It has the same design that the blue coloured concept FZ-S had at the Auto Expo in February. The exhaust gets a revised design and the bike gets a new rear tyre hugger as well. It boasts of split seats and a new design for the grab rails. The bike still is equipped with a rear drum brake and not a disc brake. This facelifted model might be launched with bright colours and new decals.
Yamaha might power this motorcycle with a carburetted bored out 153cc engine making it churn out 17bhp of power than the conventional 14bhp motor. This will be mated to the five-speed gearbox currently on the FZ and the Fazer.
We expect Yamaha to launch this facelifted FZ-S in the Indian market sometime in August when the festive season starts. The company might price this model slightly higher than the current FZ where it take the fight to Honda Trigger and TVS Apache 160. The upcoming 150cc Gixxer from Suzuki will also go head to head with the new FZ-S when launched.
