Yamaha has been testing the facelifted FZ-S ever since the concept version was displayed at the Auto Expo. This is the updated version of the current FZ and our sources have confirmed that this latest version might be launched in the coming month.
The test mules of the revised FZ-S have been spotted several times in North India. The production version seems identical to the one displayed at the biennial event. The motorcycle gets many cosmetic changes and a few new components like the speedometer console. This is completely different from the one on the current FZ, despite the fact that both are digital units.
The motorcycle boasts of split seats and a new design for the grab rails. Coming to the rear of the bike, the exhaust gets a revised design and a new rear tyre hugger. The overall structure of the panels is same as the current FZ, and it houses a revised tail light and holds a new registration plate holder.
We might see a carburetted bored out 153cc engine powering this revised bike. This motor is expected to get a power hike of 3bhp than the current mill increasing the power output to 17bhp. This will be mated to the five-speed gearbox currently on the FZ and the Fazer.
We expect the company to launch this facelifted model in bright colours and new decals. Yamaha might introduce this bike in the Indian market at a price slightly higher than the present FZ. Nevertheless, when launched, the motorcycle should take the fight to Honda Trigger, TVS Apache 160 and the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer.
