The facelifted Yamaha FZ-S was spotted testing again recently. This 2014 version of the FZ-S is the updated version of the current FZ. The concept of this bike was displayed at the recently concluded Auto Expo.
This is similar to the prototype that was caught on test earlier. It has the same design that the blue coloured concept had at the biennial event. Though, the entire structure and most of the components are same as the current model, Yamaha has made minor changes to the rear design of the bike. It is comparatively sharper with a new tail light and a registration plate holder.
The exhaust gets a revised design and the bike gets a new rear mudguard as well. If we compare this version with the image of the blue FZ showcased at the Auto Expo, we can clearly see the same design has been carried over. We can expect the company to introduce this facelifted FZ with bright colours and new decals.
We do not expect Yamaha to make major changes to the mechanicals. The same engine from the present FZ-S might be carried over. This means that the air-cooled 153 cc single-cylinder mill that churns out 14bhp of power and 13.6Nm of torque might continue to power the facelifted FZ-S. There are speculations that Yamaha might retune the engine to offer additional power. They might even introduce a fuel-injection system.
This 2014 variant of the FZ-S might be launched in the latter half of this year, probably during the festive season in a bid to cash in more sales. Yamaha recently launched four new colours of the YZF-R15 V 2.0 and the manufacturer might follow the same for the FZ-S when they launch it in the Indian market.
