India Yamaha Motor has taken the S version of the original carburetted V1.0 FZ series (introduced in 2008) off the website. Yamaha did launch a fuel-injected V2.0 in 2014 but continued offering the V1.0 because of high demand.
Till a few days ago, Yamaha had four FZ models on their website, namely the FZ and FZ-S both based on the V1.0 of the motorcycle. The FZ-FI and FZS-FI are based on the V2.0 of the bike. The S models of both versions just feature additional graphics and minor styling cues. The move from Yamaha will mean they will now have only three FZ offerings in their line-up.
The first version is powered by a 153cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that generates 13.8bhp at 7,500rpm and 13.6Nm of torque at 6,000rpm mated to a 5-speed sequential gearbox. This motorcycle is carburetted while the Version 2.0 is powered by an air-cooled, 149cc single-cylinder engine which benefits from a closed loop fuel injection system. Tweaked to deliver a better fuel efficiency, the engine now produces 13.1bhp of power and 12.8Nm of torque.
If you want to get your hands on the original FZ it can be had for Rs 73,891 (ex-showroom Mumbai). While the V2.0 FZ-FI is priced at Rs 76,250 (ex-showroom Mumbai) and the V2.0 FZS-FI can be yours at Rs 81,659 (ex-showroom Mumbai).
