Custom motorcycles seem to be a rage nowadays, as giving your motorcycle a personal touch has become the latest trend among enthusiasts. However, creating custom motorcycles can take up a lot of time and money, something which not everyone can manage. For such people, Yamaha has unveiled its latest addition to the ‘Faster Sons’ custom motorcycle range – the XSR700.
Based on a Yamaha MT-07, the XSR700 is one of the coolest embodiments of the retro craze, which was recently kickstarted by the Ducati Scrambler. The XSR700 commemorates the iconic XS650 twin from the 1970s, and is the first model inspired by the Yard Built custom series to go into mass production. Adding the classic effect are the headlight, the aluminium fuel tank, the custom tail section and scrambler-style handlebars.
Technically, the XSR700 is identical to the MT-07 and comes with the same frame, suspension and brake setup. Powering the bike is a 689cc twin-cylinder engine which produces 74.8bhp and 68Nm of torque. The XSR700 will be available in two paint jobs - forest green and garage metal. It will go on sale in November this year, after a formal unveiling at the EICMA Motorcycle Show in Milan, Italy.
