Yamaha had recently introduced the ultra-limited edition GYTR R1 to celebrate 20 years of the company’s legendary superbike, the YZF-R1. In order to maintain its exclusivity, the production was limited to only 20 units and all of them were sold out in a matter of hours. While there’s no news of a GYTR R1 destined to reach Indian shores yet, feast your eyes upon this stunning machine with this photo gallery.
First up, the Yamaha YZF-R1 GYTR is a track-only model. As such, the wiring harness has been trimmed for race use. Other race-only items are included, like a new ECU, CCU, and quick-turn throttle. There are more than a few GYTR parts on this machine too.
Sporting a paint job that’s similar to the one used on the 1999 edition of the R1, the GYTR R1’s fairing is made from pure carbon fibre. All 20 motorcycles will be set up for individually as per the rider who will own it.
All bikes will be hand-built and will feature exclusive components like a quick-action throttle, a race ECU and CCU (Computer Control Unit), which will allow the rider to analyse the data to further improve lap timing.
Being only a track-legal motorcycle, the GYTR YZF-R1 gets sticky Bridgestone V02 slicks for maximum tyre grip and performance.
The motorcycle is powered by the same 998cc inline 4-cylinder, crossplane crankshaft mill featuring titanium fracture-split connecting rods. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed compact stacked gearbox that allows the weight to be centralised while keep the overall engine size shorter.
The GYTR R1 comes with a CNC finished top yoke with numbered inscription highlighting its exclusivity. Other components include WSB switchgear, fully-adjustable steering damper, Endurance screen, racing handlebars, Brembo clutch lever and Brembo 19RCS Corsa Corta Master Brake Cylinder.
Damping duties are handled by Ohlins FGRT front forks and are accompanied by best-in-class Brembo GP4 RX calipers with 320mm Twin discs.
For the rear, the GYTR R1 packs a fully-adjustable TTX36 GP rear shock mounted onto the twin-sided aluminium swingarm.
The motorcycle features a full-titanium Akrapovic Evolution 2 exhaust system which sounds great while also keeping the weight in check.
