India Yamaha Motor has recalled their flagship bike, the YZF-R1 for lead coupler defect issue. The company announced that there is a defect in leader coupler that will result to headlight overheating and melting. This may lead into a potential short circuit affecting the motorcycles’ electronics.
The bikes that have been manufactured between October 2008 and August 2013 fall under this recall. The Japanese manufacturer will replace the part in all the affected motorcycles free of charge and has asked the customers not to use their bikes until the part is replaced. Few YZF-R1 in other markets were recalled too for this issue.
