Yamaha Motor India is continuing to show a brisk growth as sales numbers of the manufacturer jumped by 14.4 per cent in June 2014, compared to the same period, last year. The company sold 40,666 units in the last month, consolidating 18 per cent market share in the two wheeler market.
Speaking about the sales numbers, Mr. Roy Kurian, VP, sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd, said, “The incessant growth numbers are a sign of Yamaha’s robust business plan and strategic customer engagement programs. We have had other launches as well this year, however, Alpha, launched at the Auto expo, continues to be a fundamental growth driver for us.”
Earlier this year, the Japanese manufacturer launched the Alpha at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, which had a prominent role in driving up the sales numbers. Yamaha keeps introducing new colour schemes for its offerings every once in a while to retain the novelty factor in its products. Yamaha also undertook different customer engagement programs, like the safety program for kids, which has ensured a good exposure for the company.
Earlier this week, Yamaha launched two new motorcycles, the FZ version 2.0 and the FZ-S version 2.0 which are powered by new 149cc fuel injected engines. These new motorcycles will be sold alongside the existing FZ series and are expected to further boost the sales figures of the company.
The government recently announced the extension of the excise duty cuts for motorcycles sold in India. Talking about the positive outlook of the new government, Mr. Kurian added, “This is indeed the reviving times for the industry as we have an industry-friendly and an absolute government at centre. With these developments, the positive sentiments have also started to grace the industry.”
