- Yamaha to showcase new scooter on 21 September
- Will be a maxi-scooter
- Could be most expensive Yamaha scooter in India
Yamaha India has released a teaser photo revealing an upcoming product that would make its debut on 21 September along with the new Yamaha R15 V3.
According to our sources, this would be Yamaha India’s first maxi-scooter and is likely to be powered by the same 155cc engine as the R15. While it is likely to put out lesser power than the R15, it could still be the most powerful scooter in the country. Now, Yamaha’s international range of maxi-scooters gets premium features like full-LED lighting, keyless ignition, ABS, and even a traction control system. However, it is likely that the upcoming Yamaha maxi-scooter would not come with most of these features.
Nevertheless, we can expect Yamaha to equip it with full-LED lighting for the headlamp and tail lamp, a semi-digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, a fairly large underseat storage space and single-channel ABS. While there aren’t many details available currently, we won’t have to wait long as the unveil is just a couple of days away.
We expect the upcoming Yamaha scooter to also command a substantial premium over other maxi-scooters in the market. Since it is expected to come with premium features and a tech-laden 155cc engine, the Yamaha is likely to be priced around Rs 1.3-Rs 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom).
