- Fascino 11, Ray ZR 110 to be discontinued
- Will focus more on 125cc
Yamaha has decided to shift its focus from crowded 110cc scooter segment to the growing 125cc one. Due to this, the company has decided to discontinue its 110cc scooter range.
The Japanese maker will take the Fascino 110 and the Ray ZR series off the showrooms from 1st April, 2020 – the day BS6 norms are applied. The Fascino has been selling decently for Yamaha for the last few years. But it looks like the company didn’t see a big market for BS6 110cc range due to the drop in power figures and the increase in cost.
Honda has been ruling the 110cc scooter segment since many years now. So it makes sense for Yamaha to focus more on the 125cc segment. Plus, with 110cc going off the shelves, Yamaha would be able to play well with the pricing of its new 125cc range. This will help the company garner a good amount of market share. Yamaha aims to double its scooter market share to 10 per cent by 2025.
