Yamaha has issued a recall for its popular 110cc scooter, the Alpha, to fix a potential issue in the engine. The Japanese manufacturer recently started contacting Alpha owners personally, asking them to visit the nearest service centre and get their vehicle inspected.
The faulty component in question is a cylinder head O-ring, which might lead to oil leakage in the engine. Yamaha has been contacting owners of the Alpha through text messages and phone calls, offering them appointments. The faulty part will be replaced free of cost and replacement takes around three hours.
The Alpha was launched last year at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and has been developed specially for the Indian market. It is powered by a four-stroke 113cc single-cylinder engine, which produces 7.1bhp and 8.1Nm of torque. It is offered in five vibrant colours and competes with the Honda Activa and the Suzuki Let’s.
