- 3,00,000 units recalled
- The brake lever may be faulty
- Replacement is to be carried out free of cost
Yamaha has issued a mega recall for 3,00,000 units of its 125cc hybrid scooters in India. The Japanese brand has officially announced that select units of the Ray ZR 125 and Fascino 125 manufactured between 1 January 2022 and 4 January 2024 may have an issue with the brake lever function.
Owners of the Ray ZR 125 and Fascino 125 manufactured during the aforementioned period can check their eligibility for the recall on Yamaha’s official website. They need to visit the ‘service section’ on the site and enter the ‘SC 125 Voluntary Recall’ page where they can put their vehicle’s chassis number and check for eligibility. Customers who are a part of the recall can get the potentially faulty part replaced free of cost at their nearest authorised Yamaha service centre.
The Fascino 125 and Ray ZR 125 are based on the same platform and share the identical 125cc engine with hybrid technology that produces 8.04bhp and 10.3Nm. Both scooters weigh 99kg (kerb) and boast a 5.2-litre fuel tank. They ride on a 12-10-inch alloy wheel combination with telescopic forks and a monoshock. Braking is handled by a drum setup at both ends accompanied by a combined braking system for added safety. The top-spec scooters get a disc brake at the front.
