Yamaha has just launched their flagship motorcycle, the YZF-R1 in India. This superbike has been priced at Rs 20.73 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and is being sold in India as a completely-built-up(CBU) unit from Japan.
For the 2018 model, the R1 gets a few technological and minor cosmetic updates. It gets an updated Quick Shift System (QSS) that now allows clutchless downshifting. It is also equipped with an updated Lift Control System (LIF).
The new R1 is built around Yamaha's famous deltabox frame. This new chassis has been heavily worked upon to bring the overall weight down. This fast motorcycle is powered by a 998cc cross plane four-cylinder motor that produces a whopping 200bhp at 13,500rpm and maximum torque of 112.4Nm at 11,5000rpm.This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox. This Yamaha is loaded with the latest technologies like slide control, launch control, anti-wheelie control, unified braking system and banking sensitive traction control.
The new YZF-R1 is available in India in two colours – black and blue. It competes with the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, the Suzuki GSX-R1000, BMW S1000RR and the Honda CBR1000R.
